2003-12-20 - 5:37 p.m. one, My Pretty Pony, two, My Pretty Pony, three, My Pretty Pony, four... Two authors of books on Sarasota history I'm using in my thesis have died this week. In four days I fly to my mother's hometown in upstate New York. There I will see my 88 year old grandfather. The small town is adjecent to, one town over from, the small town of Troy, New York, on the Mohawk River. That is the seemingly random, uncannily percise location of Stephen King's story "My Pretty Pony," about a boy's conversation with his grandfather, the passage of time, and death.
